I am trying out a new Cannon Photoshot Camera. I will keep you posted on my likes and dislikes if any. I have always used a Nikon so this will be a new experience for me. I will post some photos soon taken with the Cannon and hope you will give me some feedback. As with anything new I have a lot to learn about the settings etc.
Joy is the settled assurance that God is in control of all the details of my life, the quiet confidence that ultimately everything is going to be alright, and the determined choice to praise God in every situation. I am truly grateful this Christmas Season for the assurance of all is well.
Merry Christmas from our house to yours!
Nature being a Gift from God
I will start by telling you that I love nature and decided that photography would be a way for me to be able to share my interest. When shopping for a DSLR I decided on a Nikon and quickly realized after doing so that buying a Nikon doesn't make you a photographer. It makes you a Nikon owner. The best thing about photography is that it is you and your camera and the limitations are endless. I hope that through my photography you learn to love and appreciate nature as God's gift.
When growing up in Asheville, North Carolina, my family was never fond of autumn or winter. My Dad had his own business doing landscaping then he started his own paving company "Parkway Paving" so his work depended so much on the weather. His words "Lord willing and nothing happens" next pretty day we will finish up whatever job. My point is that spring and summer where flourishing months for anyone making a living outdoors. He did always find work in the cold weather months but it was hard on him and my three brothers to have to work out in the snow and cold. I always worried about them out at night scraping snow. They would come in wet, cold and tired. As a child I didn't like it and I think it is funny how that stays with me till this day. I am not a fall or winter person at all. I am trying to change my outlook by decorating the house with the fall decor' and also taking beautiful fall photos. I will be posting some of my fall photos soon.
I think a photography class should be a requirement in all educational programs because it makes you see the world rather than just look at it. ~Author Unknown
The first wagon wheel was a solid pieces of wood, heavy, hard to make round and not wobble. The first known spoke wagon wheel which was much a lighter wagon wheel, easier to make round and to control the wobble was around 2000 BC, it was a thousand years before an iron tire would be added to the spooked wagon wheel.
There has not been a lot of progress made in the making of a wagon wheel over the years. True, with power tools and equipment we can now build the parts quicker than when the parts had to be made by hand. However, we make a wagon wheel today basically the same way a wagon wheel was made 150 years ago.
Butterflies appear to dance has they flutter among the flowers. They remind us not to take things so seriously within our lives. They awaken a sense of lightness and joy. They remind us to get up and move, for if you do not move, you cannot dance.
Butterflies bring color and joy with them. Look at how much or little joy is in your life. Lighten up. Look for change. Make changes when the opportunities present themselves. The butterfly will teach you that growth and change do not have to be traumatic. Change can occur as gently and as joyfully as one wish

Hibiscus ~ the most common meaning of hibiscus is “delicate beauty.” It is a popular landscaping shrub among gardeners, and landscapers. If you have photos of your hibiscus please share here on my blog. Would love to see the different colors of this "delicate beauty".
A friend and I enjoyed a day at Caledonia State Park yesterday. As you can see we enjoyed the wild red raspberries as much as the beauty all around. The 1,125-acre Caledonia State Park is in Adams and Franklin counties, midway between Chambersburg and Gettysburg along the Lincoln Highway, US 30.
